Benjie Linkous, PE, LEED AP

PRESIDENT | electrical engineer

Benjie joined the firm after graduating from Virginia Tech and has dedicated his career to public facilities design and construction.  A registered Professional Engineer by trade, he continued to his current position, serving the firm as President.  He works with numerous Owner and Architectural clients in the mid-Atlantic region, establishing relationships and seeing projects to fruition.  Benjie enjoys all aspects of the engineering process from the early inception of projects to opening day, meeting and engaging with clients, and working with other highly qualified staff to determine the best engineered solutions possible.  As a designer, he specializes in electrical design, including distribution, lighting, low-voltage systems, and safety and security systems.  Leading in energy efficient design practices and sustainable strategies is also a passion of his to ensure the firm continues to help set the standard in these arenas.  More than anything, though, he enjoys helping others not only achieve, but exceed their expectations, dreams, and aspirations.

 

Dave Roller, PE, LEED AP, CEM, GBE

Vice President | mechanical Engineer

David serves as Mechanical Department Head for the firm.  He has been a member of our team since 2000 and has experience across multiple project types as well as a large variety of mechanical system types.  His specialties include green building and high performance design, central plant systems, hydronic systems, energy modeling, and construction administration. David also serves as the primary contact for several architectural and owner clients and helps in developing and maintaining these long-lasting relationships.  Additionally, David shares his talent in overseeing and helping direct the financial aspect of the firm.  David is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

David is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland; holds certifications as a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and Green Building Engineer (GBE), and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

 

Sean Mallahan, PE, LEED AP

Vice president | bim manager | mechanical engineer

Sean has been a member of the Ascent team for over a decade and started in the CAD department before becoming a Mechanical Engineer. He is the lead designer and project manager for many commercial and educational projects. As a licensed engineer in Virginia and Maryland, Sean’s responsibilities include all aspects of project implementation from Pre-Design and Design through Construction Administration. With a personal involvement in many LEED Certified buildings, he also helps lead the firm in the green building industry and LEED certification process. Sean is also the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager and oversees all aspects of the firm’s implementation of BIM.  Sean is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
